  2. How do I request additional devices? How soon will I get them?
    • Email the commandcenter@cargosignal.com the items below
      • Customer, number of devices required, mode of transportation, monitoring service level/sensors required, date devices are needed, address where devices need to be sent, name and phone# of contact who will receive the devices.
    • Lead time for devices will vary depending on quantity and shipping location. Please estimate 5-6 business days.
  3. How do I check if the device is on?
    • Rechargeable devices are always ON.
  4. How long does the battery last?
    • The devices we currently use are powered by lithium ion batteries.
      Battery life varies depending on reporting frequency, signal strength or network connectivity, and other factors. We have batteries capable of lasting throughout standard and extended shipment durations on all modes of transit.
  5. How do I install a device?
    • Our Command Center configures the devices to report according to mode of transportation and expected transit time. Please note reporting frequency is also influenced by cellular reception. 
      • Air/Road - 15 minute intervals
      • Ocean - 6 hour intervals
  6. How often does my device update?
    • The placement of a device will vary depending on the mode and type of cargo. During the pre-program start-up phase, Cargo Signal will review the requirements of the assigned device and explain how best to install it within or affix it to your shipment. Cargo Signal’s Command Centre is always available to discuss device placement for your specific shipment at any time of day. Below are some best practices to follow.
      • Device should be secured to the cargo to keep devices from shifting during transit
      • A clear document pouch can be used to contain the device
  7. Who is responsible to return the device?
    • The entity that signs the Cargo Signal Scope of Services will be liable for the devices. It is up to this entity to coordinate the device removal with a preferred courier or service provider.
    • Once the consignment arrives at the delivery address, promptly remove the device, package it in a box , and apply a return label, then tender it to the courier of choice. All devices should be returned no more than 5 days after delivery.
    • Please note there is a charge of US$200-$500 for any GPS device lost or damaged and not returned within 30 days after shipment delivers. We recommend you keep a record of the courier return label details.
